Flexible and thin display technology is advanced display technology.

Organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays have been leading the introduction of flexible display technologies into consumer applications. OLED is an emissive technology and does not need separate lighting.

Thus far, the use of non-emissive flexible displays has been mainly limited to e-paper based products, such as e-reader and wearable devices, however curved/bent LCDs are now getting more common in TVs and information displays. The development of organic backplane technology enables LCDs to become truly flexible. The on-going developments in e-paper and alternative paper-like display technology will bring about color and higher switching speeds. These advancements open up new opportunities for these display technologies to penetrate the markets in various new applications.

Nanocomp designs and manufactures frontlight and backlight guides needed for illuminating non-emissive displays. Nanocomp light guide film is a perfect pair for thin and flexible displays – or for any non-emissive display- enabling thinner and lighter devices.
